Meeting Proficiency and Criteria for Math Instructional Materials Selection (9:00 – 12.00)


This session will focus on selection criteria for district and/or school mathematics instructional materials. We will be discussing specific elements that will align to the standards and the state assessments to help students meet proficiency. UNM Masters of Arts in Teaching Summit – Math (1:00-4:00)

This session is a preliminary discussion on the possibility of the institutions of higher education collaborating on a state-wide masters degree program for middle school mathematics teachers. All faculty from IHEs, middle school teachers and administrators, and members of the state department of education interested in this discussion are encouraged to attend. Presentor: Kristin Umland. Nanoscience in New Mexico: Education, Research, and Applications (1:00-4:00)

What is nanoscience?  How does science education fit into the nanoscience framework of activities?  This workshop will provide an overview of what nanoscience is, and educational and research activities in New Mexico.
